Rainbow Arabia Sign to Kompakt, Ready Boys and Diamonds

Husband and wife sound team Daniel and Tiffany Preston have been making waves as Rainbow Arabia since first emerging on the electronic music landscape with 2008's The Basta EP and 2009's Kabukimono EP. For their highly anticipated full-length, however, they have upped their profile significantly, inking a deal with the prestigious Kompakt Records.

The Berlin-based label is planning to issue Rainbow Arabia's 11-song debut early next year. The album is called Boys and Diamonds and it was recorded over the course of the last year. It's also said to be their most ambitious work yet, marrying the duo's schizophrenic influences with a solid songwriting backbone.

According to a press release, Boys and Diamonds "is unmistakably a pop album, but also one that comfortably fits in with Kompakt's long-standing lineage of genre-refracting releases." What that means in terms of sound is "Siouxsie rubbing elbows with Shabba Ranks, Giorgio Moroder sipping daiquiris in Bali, Desmond Dekker envisioned through skittering footwork, Phil Collins sitting in with Congotronics, even early Madonna produced by Chris and Cosey."

Kompakt will issue Boys and Diamonds on March 1 in North America and February 28 in the rest of the world.
