Radiohead's Greenwood Did It To Himself

BY Brock ThiessenPublished May 27, 2008

Radiohead’s In Rainbows isn’t exactly what you’d call a rocker. Nevertheless, apparently it was rockin’ enough to inflict hearing damage on the band’s bassist Colin Greenwood.

In a recent interview with Word, Greenwood revealed he experienced temporary hearing loss and tinnitus after the recording of In Rainbows, laying blame on wearing the wrong headphones.

"[It was] a fucking nightmare. It [his hearing] came back, mostly. It doesn’t feel like I’m talking to people underwater anymore,” he told Word. "For a few months afterwards I’d be watching the telly and suddenly heard these high-pitched whistling noises as more and more high frequencies came back.”

For Radiohead’s sake, hopefully Greenwood has his ears covered up and protected for the band’s upcoming North American tour, which kicks off in August.
