R.E.M. Unveil Live Version of "World Leader Pretend" for Anti-Trump 30 Day, 30 Songs Series

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Oct 19, 2016

The 30 Days, 30 Songs campaign has already heard tracks from Death Cab for Cutie and Franz Ferdinand, and now the R.E.M. contribution we were promised has arrived.

Michael Stipe and co. have shared a previously unreleased live rendition of Green cut "World Leader Pretend." It was a politically charged anthem at the time of its initial 1988 release, and sadly, sounds no less relevant in 2016.

As previously reported, the 30 Days, 30 Songs campaign was launched under the leadership of writer Dave Eggers. Tracks from Aimee Mann, Thao Nguyen, Clipping. and more are still on the way.
