After sharing an "end of the world" PSA urging fans to stay home in order to flatten the curve of the COVID-19 pandemic, R.E.M.'s Michael Stipe is continuing his quest to uplift spirits in times of self-isolation with a new demo track called "No Time for Love Like Now."
Last night (March 28), the artist shared the first take of his new song, an Aaron Dessner-assisted track that is seemingly inspired by the ongoing global efforts to stay indoors.
"First take! A new song with Aaron Dessner. This is the demo track. Echoing Love xxx Michael," the artist wrote of the new demo.
Later, Dessner tweeted in support of their collaboration, "Michael Stipe has been a great hero and friend to me (and the National) and I never in my wildest dreams imagined writing songs together."
So far, there has been no word on whether or not the single will appear alongside Stipe's forthcoming debut solo work.
