R.E.M.'s Michael Stipe Uses "It's the End of the World As We Know It" for a Coronavirus PSA

R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe has shared a video featuring the band's depressingly apt song "It's the End of the World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)" — using it as a PSA for the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.

In the clip, Stipe clarifies that it's the "as we know it" part that is most important, before giving us a list of pandemic tips (in case you haven't already heard them all a million times via your local news coverage).

Sharing advice on flattening the curve of the pandemic, he urges fans to stay at home (and that he'll celebrate St. Patrick's Day with you in four months), wash your hands for 20 seconds, act like you're already sick and be careful where you get your information from.

"I'm a former pop star, but don't trust social media," he concludes. "Go to the CDC website, go to trusted news services for you information."
