Long-running New York post-hardcore outfit Quicksand are headed back our way with a new album. The record is called Distant Populations, which will arrive digitally on August 13 and on vinyl September 24 via Epitaph Records. And the band will be bringing the album to Canada on tour.
To go along with album announcement, Quicksand have shared the new track "Missile Command," which has arrived via a music video.
In a statement, frontman/guitarist Walter Schreifels said "It really kind of focuses on [bassist] Sergio [Vega]'s whole motif in a very simple way. He and [drummer] Alan [Cage] just have this really kind of trademark groove, and I think that really sings on this one to me."
Check it out "Missile Command" below.
The album marks the follow-up to 2017's Interiors and is the group's fourth album overall. Distant Populations was recorded at Studio 4 Recording in Conshohocken, PA, with Will Yip producing and engineering the sessions. The record was mixed by Josh Wilbur.
"Everyone is on the one hand so connected with each other, and on the other hand, is so far apart," said Schreifels of the album's theme. "We're checking out each other's social media and we know what everybody's doing. But when we're sitting in the same room together, we're looking at our phones."
As for that tour, the North American trek will kick off in late September and run until Halloween. In addition to multiple U.S. stops, Quicksand will visit Vancouver's Rickshaw Theatre on October 12.
