Questlove Playing a Corpse on 'Law & Order: SVU'

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Feb 21, 2014

Despite Questlove delivering choice beats on any number of the Roots' critically acclaimed back catalogue and keeping the backbeat as the bandleader on Jimmy Fallon's Tonight Show, the producers of Law & Order: SVU want the much-loved drummer dead. To clarify, it's for an upcoming episode of the long-running crime drama, but still.

Earlier today (February 21), rapper/SVU actor Ice T tweeted a picture of the Roots member laid out on a coroner's table. Of the apparent murder victim on display, T quipped "SVU Behind The Scenes: This corpse looks strangely familiar."

As you'll note in the pic up above, there's a big bullet hole on the right side of Questlove's forehead, though the shot apparently wasn't strong enough to dislodge the comb out of the drummer's afro.

It's unclear at present when an episode will air, or if this is perhaps part of a skit for The Tonight Show, but Questlove had previously noted that he had aspirations of being a corpse for the program. Last year, the percussionist revealed to Us Magazine, in a piece called "25 Things You Don't Know About Me," "It's my fantasy to play a dead body on Law & Order." The piece also revealed that he's ambidextrous and doesn't drink tap water, though judging by that picture, none of that matters now.

This week, Questlove and the rest of the Roots have been helping their commander Jimmy Fallon work into his first week as the host of The Tonight Show, having taken over from previous host Jay Leno.
