Pulp Reunite for Live Shows

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Nov 8, 2010

Here's some incredible news for us common people: Britpop royalty Pulp have reunited. After an eight-year absence that found lusty literati frontman Jarvis Cocker venture off into a solo career, the Sheffield quintet have announced some reunion gigs.

While a cryptic website revamp asks a number of questions, including "Is this a dream come true?" and "Is this really happening?", a press release on Pulp's Facebook offers up some concrete details.

"Pulp have decided to get together and play some concerts next summer," the statement reads. "The shows will involve all the original members of the band (Nick Banks, Jarvis Cocker, Candida Doyle, Steve Mackey, Russell Senior and Mark Webber) and they will be playing songs from all periods of their career. (Yes, that means they'll be playing your favourites)."

This marks the first time the lineup has performed together since August 24, 1996.

While only two shows have been announced at the moment -- a set at the Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona and a spot at the Wire Festival in London, both in 2011-- we're hoping the quintet make a go at a full tour. Quite frankly, we don't remember the first time.

Tour dates:

5/27 Barcelona, Spain
7/3 London, England
