Polyvinyl Taps Of Montreal, Deerhoof, Xiu Xiu for Japan Benefit Comp

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jul 12, 2011

From the Beach Boys to Fleet Foxes, a number of artists have stepped up to raise funds for Japan following the devastating earthquakes and tsunamis that rocked the country earlier this year. With so much still left to be done, Polyvinyl Records is now the latest to contribute to relief aid via a new compilation.

A press release explains that "Soon after the news broke, Polyvinyl reached out to its family of artists -- and friends of that family -- to put together a compilation to raise money to aid victims of this tragedy."

Titled Japan 3.11.11, the benefit set contains 23 cuts pulling from all sorts of acts from the label's hefty roster. Via B-sides, demos, remixes and live recordings, contributors include Of Montreal, Deerhoof, Starfucker, Joan of Arc, Xiu Xiu, Love Is All and more. You can check out the full tracklisting below.

While the comp is already up on the Polyvinyl site as a digital download, a physical copy will hit the shelves September 27. The limited-edition release will be pressed on red vinyl.

All profits will go to the American Red Cross in support of the ongoing relief efforts by the International Red Cross.
