Phoenix and R. Kelly Teaming Up for "Trying to Be Cool" Remix

Effervescent French pop rockers Phoenix brought R&B enigma R. Kelly onstage at Coachella this past spring, and now it turns out they've brought him into the studio as well. The group recently revealed that the 12 Play singer will leave his mark on a new remix of Bankrupt! track "Trying to Be Cool."

Last week, when guitarist Christian Mazzalai was pressed by Radio.com about whether another team-up with Kels was in the works, he slyly responded: "Yeah, maybe. Maybe [Lifts sunglasses and winks]. Maybe. Maybe soon you will know. Maybe."

Sure enough, Phoenix went ahead and uploaded an image to Instagram confirming the "Trying to Be Cool" remix. This will be the second collaborative track, following the mash-up of Phoenix's "1901" and Kelly's "Ignition (Remix)"/"I'm a Flirt" performed at Coachella, which you can peep in the live video down below.

"Before going onstage we always put on R. Kelly's music, which is very far from our music, but we love his art," Mazzalai explained. "So we created a mash-up between our music and his music. We sent it to him and he said yes. The funny part is he arrived late so we didn't see him before. We met him onstage. We didn't rehearse so there was a beautiful tension."

A ETA has not yet been given for the collaborative remix.

Earlier this year, Phoenix had A-Trak whip up his own remix of "Trying to Be Cool."
