Perez Hilton To Launch His Own Label Through Warner Music

In a move to capitalise on the trendsetting blogosphere, Warner Brothers Records is negotiating a deal to provide Mario Lavandeira, aka Perez Hilton, with his own label imprint, the New York Times has reported.

While Lavandeira is best known for dishing out the latest gossip on vulnerable celebrities through his site, he has long shared his love for his favourite tunes, making the talks with the major label not entirely out of leftfield.

Several sources involved in the negotiations spoke to the newspaper, saying the talks are preliminary and no agreement is yet in the bag. However, they said Lavandeira could receive $100,000 a year as an advance against 50 per cent of profits generated by artists he seeks out and releases through the imprint. Not a bad deal for the online gossipmonger, whose site draws in a reported 2.8 million visitors a month.

Lavandeira’s lawyer and Warner spokespeople have thus far declined to comment on the talks.

Some of Lavandeira’s previous music pics, which will cause you to "be foaming at the mouth!” have included Lily Allen, Regina Spektor, Amy Winehouse, the Gossip and Yo Majesty.

No word at press time if the imprint’s album art will feature Lavandeira’s patented, dildo-loving Photoshop scrawl.
