Pavel

"Alright"

Vancouver duo Mesa Luna is currently taking a bit of a break, but the band's Alex Cooper hasn't slowed down his own creative output. He's ready to debut a new solo project under the guise of Pavel, and we have his brand new track "Alright."

The moniker may or not be a nod to former Vancouver Canuck and "Russian Rocket" Pavel Bure, but it serves as a vehicle for a certain kind of confidence Cooper is not quite comfortable displaying under his given name.

"It is simply a pseudonym that I've taken on to, perhaps paradoxically, reveal a truer more vulnerable self," he tells Exclaim! "Pavel has the bravado to do so that I don't."

"Alright" serves as his musical alter-ego's introduction to the world, and it's a dreamy mix of warbling synths, drum machine beats and hazy vocals that is sure to get listeners grooving along and feeling just like the title of the song itself.

Pavel will be taking a spot on stage opening for Prince Rama and Dinner at Vancouver's Cobalt on April 2, but before you catch his live act, listen to the brand new single "Alright" in the player below.
