Patti Smith to Deliver 'Live at Montreux 2005' DVD
Earlier this year, Patti Smith delivered Banga, her first album of new material since 2004, but the iconic punk-poet's next release will focus on a much less recent concert. Smith's aptly titled Live at Montreux 2005 concert film arrives November 13 on DVD and Blu-ray via Eagle Rock Entertainment.

According to a press release, the seven-year-old set is "a fervent intermingle of visual artistry, musical exploration, spoken word, and rock'n'roll." This is Smith's first-ever live video release and was captured in Switzerland during the tour cycle for her then-current LP Trampin'. While it features that album's "Peaceable Kingdom," it also highlights past classics like "Because the Night" and "Redondo Beach," among other tunes.

"There's something magical about seeing Montreux on our tour itinerary," longtime collaborator and guitarist Lenny Kaye said in a statement. "Along with a sense of achievement in becoming part of its grand tradition, there's an awareness of the many 'those' who have played here over the years, the tribute that must be paid, the higher level of artistic exploration and audience sophistication that enhances the possibilities for taking a performance one step further. We partake of a sense of communal belonging within the mandala that is human musical expression."

Joining Smith on stage for this show were Kaye (guitar & vocals), Jay Dee Daugherty (drums), Television's Tom Verlaine (guitars) and Tony Shanahan (bass, keyboards and vocals).
