Patti Smith Joins U2 on Stage for Tribute to Paris

U2 recently postponed a pair of live shows in Paris following the terrorist attacks last month, but Bono and the band returned to the City of Lights last night (December 6) to perform for the recovering city and pay respect.

And while rumours about Eagles of Death Metal joining U2 on stage swirled before the show, it was in fact Patti Smith who served as the evening's special guest.

The iconic singer and poet joined the group on stage to perform a bit of "Gloria" before delivering a powerful rendition of "People Have the Power."

As a tribute to the victims of the Paris attacks, a French flag featuring the names of those killed and a peace sign was broadcast across the stadium's giant screen.

Bono, of course, also had some inspirational introductory words to offer the crowd. You can hear him welcome Smith to the stage and watch their joint performance in the players below.
