Canadian indie rocker Patrick Watson has shifted his focus from his Love Songs for Robots LP back towards the world of cinema. He'll next be delivering a score for supernatural drama The 9th Life of Louis Drax.

Word of Watson's involvement had been hinted at earlier this year, but as Film Music Reporter points out, it's now been confirmed that the Canadian singer-songwriter has been tapped to deliver new music for the latest picture by director Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes, Piranha 3D, High Tension).

Based on the best-selling novel by Liz Jensen, the film stars 50 Shades of Grey's Jamie Dornan, as well as Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul, Sarah Gadon, Oliver Platt, Molly Parker, Barbara Hershey and Aiden Longworth. The plot centres on the relationship between a psychiatrist and a young boy who suffered a near-fatal accident, with the mystery film apparently blurring the lines of fantasy and reality. It's expected to hit screens sometime in 2016.

In addition to his recording career, Watson has offered up scores to plenty of productions over the years. Some of his credits include shorts like Gravity Boy and Cochemare, full-length productions The Flood and Les 4 Soldats, and documentary A St-Henri, le 26 Aout.
