Part Chimp and Torche Team Up for Split 12-Inch, North American Tour

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Sep 19, 2011

Though euphoric UK noise rockers Part Chimp have been around since 2000, for whatever reason, the band never really caught on this side of the pond. If you haven't jumped on board with the group's blend of brain-busting rawk, you better hurry quick, as they've just announced their swan song, a split twelve-inch with fellow noiseniks Torche.

A press release explains that Part Chimp will contribute two new tunes on their side of the platter, "Dr. Horse" and "The Watcher," which still showcase their "sonic belligerence" filtered through the influence of Black Sabbath, Sonic Youth, Tad and more. Florida-based sludge trio Torche, meanwhile, offer up three no doubt destructive Guided By Voices covers. You can check out their version of "Exit Flagger" here on Pitchfork.

The record is being pressed in a limited edition of 500 copies and will, aside from a pre-order on Chunklet, only be available on an upcoming trip both bands will undertake this November. There are no Canadian dates, unfortunately, but if you're in the mood for a road trip, you might want to check out Part Chimp on their last-ever North American trip.
