Parliament Hill's Bell Tower Played the 'Jeopardy!' Theme to Honour Alex Trebek

The only part of Jeopardy! as iconic as late host Alex Trebek is its theme song, and the carillonneur on Parliament Hill has paid a fitting musical tribute to the Canadian.

Yesterday (November 9), the bell player in Ottawa performed the theme from Jeopardy! using the Peace Tower's 53-bell carillon to honour Trebek, who passed away Sunday (November 8) at age 80 following a battle with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

Even beyond his 1963 hosting debut on CBC's Music Hop, Trebek's career was filled with musical moments. If he wasn't working your favourite bands and artists into Jeopardy! clues, he was quoting them emphatically.

You can hear the Jeopardy! theme ring out below in a video shot for CTV News.

Trebek's final episode of Jeopardy! will air on Christmas Day. The host released memoir The Answer Is…: Reflections on My Life earlier this year.
