Jay Som's Melina Duterte and Palehound's Ellen Kempner have teamed up to form a new indie-rock project called Bachelor, and today, the duo have shared their first single, "Anything at All."
Formed pre-quarantine in January 2020, the pair are now debuting their new music courtesy of Polyvinyl Records. Self-described "big fans" of one another, Kempner and Duterte say their new single is "an even blend of our tastes and writing styles and to release it feels very hopeful and joyous to us."
The pair's new release — which they recorded, wrote and produced themselves in California — follows a number of one-off singles from Palehound in recent months, as well as the formation of Jay Som and Annie Truscott of Chastity Belt's new band Routine.
Kempner's latest full-length release was 2019's Black Friday, while Duterte's was Anak Ko from the same year. So far, the pair have yet to announce plans to release a larger body of work under their new namesake.
While we wait for word on that, you can listen to "Anything at All" below.
