Oshima

'The Age of Shapes'

Les Jupes frontman Michael P Falk is getting up to some extracurricular activity these days, having just released an EP from his side-project Oshima called The Age of Shapes.

A press release explains that the debut EP, which Falk is serving up for free via his Head in the Sand imprint, comprises a handful of tracks the singer-songwriter initially felt were too personal for Les Jupes. "I'm trying to become more comfortable with allowing listeners in to some of my more quiet and vulnerable moments," he said in a statement.

After sifting through demos with Twilight Hotel's Dave Quanbury, the pair brought aboard drummer Curtis Nowosad's and guest vocalists Keri Latimer (Nathan) and Jaymie Friesen to hit the recording studio. Apparently the sessions went well, as The Age of Shapes is the first of four records to be released in the next year.
