Operators Announce 'EP1,' Reveal Tour Dates with Future Islands
Following that first tease of "True" back in June, Dan Boeckner's current Operators project have announced plans to issue their first EP. Delivered under the rather functional title of EP1, the group's first proper release arrives independently this coming Tuesday (August 5).

Recorded by Boeckner at Montreal's Hotel2Tango studio, the EP contains five new cuts described in a press release as an "upbeat, aggressively melodic collection of synth driven pop songs." The press release adds that the project acts as the logical next step from previous projects Wolf Parade and Handsome Furs, and the singer-songwriter had also told Exclaim! last summer that Operators taps into "elements of punk rock," with Unwound and Fugazi having been revealed as touchstones.

You'll find EP1's cover art up above and a stream of "True" down below, where you'll also see the five-song tracklist. Additionally, the band have detailed fall tour plans with Baltimore buzz band Future Islands, including a stop at Montreal's La Tulipe on September 2. There are also a handful of headlining dates in Canada in September.

You'll find the details for the full trip down below the tracklist.

UPDATE: Operators have signed to Last Gang in Canada, and the EP will arrive via that imprint here.
