After putting on a Hella Personal Film Festival with Paul White last year, Open Mike Eagle is striking out solo for Brick Body Kids Still Daydream, which you can hear in its entirety right now.
Arriving today (September 15) through Mello Music Group, the conceptual LP centres on Chicago's Robert Taylor Homes, a public housing project on the city's south side that was demolished from 1998 to 2007.
Brick Body Kids Still Daydream presents what Mike calls "a vivid, comic book-style reimagining of the Homes," serving also as "a larger commentary on the current political climate and race relations."
The album was mixed and mastered by Daddy Kev and features production from Exile, DJ Nobody, Andrew Broder, Kenny Segal, Illingsworth, and Has-Lo, while Jordan Katza (De La Soul, Iggy Pop) is credited with live instrumentation.
