Eden Mills Writers' Festival typically focuses on the written word, but for the 25th annual instalment of the event, the organizers have rounded up some Canadian music talent as well.

While the festival proper will run in Guelph and Eden Mills from September 13 to 15, a preview show takes place at the Starlight Social Club in Waterloo on September 5. The bill for this gig will feature three Toronto acts: Jim Guthrie (along with a nine-piece band), electronic producer I Am Robot and Proud, and Dave Bidini's Bidiniband.

In addition to performing music, Bidini will read some of his written work; his latest book, Keon and Me: My Search for the Lost Soul of the Leafs, is due out in October through Penguin Books. Waterloo author Carrie Snyder will also be reading.

As for the festival itself, Joel Plaskett Emergency will perform at Guelph's River Run Centre on September 13; Guthrie and Bidiniband are also on the bill. That same day, James Gordon will play at Eden Mills Community Hall, with a reading from Arthur Black.
