Old Man Luedecke

"The Rear Guard"

TRACK OF THE DAY: Well ahead of the March 30th release of his new album, My Hands are on Fire and Other Love Songs, Nova Scotia-based folk phenom Old Man Luedecke presents us with soaring track "The Rear Guard."

Though most often a one-man banjo band live (until the whole crowd starts stomping and hollering along), Luedecke returned to the studio with gifted musician Steve Dawson at the helm. Bolstered by ace musicians adding tastefully understated textures to the mix, Luedecke's artful songs are that much more dynamic on his new record, and "The Rear Guard" is exemplary of the whole affair. Containing the refrain "My hands are on fire," the tune may just be at the heart of this thoughtfully earnest album.
