Oh Susanna Recruits Joel Plaskett, Ron Sexsmith, Jim Cuddy to Write Songs for Jim Bryson-Produced 'Namedropper'

Kickstarter has generated a lot of criticism lately thanks to Amanda Palmer and Animal Collective's Deakin. However, that isn't stopping Canadian songbird Oh Susanna (aka Suzie Ungerleider) from using the website to raise funds for her next album, Namedropper, which will feature input from a host of big-name Canuck songwriters.

The album is being produced by Jim Bryson and will feature Ungerleider singing songs written by various Canadian musicians specifically for this project. According to Facebook, the contributors include Ron Sexsmith, Joel Plaskett, Jim Cuddy, Royal Wood, Amelia Curran, Old Man Luedecke, Luke Doucet, Melissa McClelland, Keri Latimer (of Nathan), Caroline Brooks (of the Good Lovelies), Joey Wright & Jenny Whiteley, Rueben De Groot, Jay Harris, and Bryson.

As of press time, Ungerleider has raised almost $5,000 of her $10,000 goal. Pledgers will receive rewards such as signed CDs, handwritten letters and lyrics, Oh Susanna's own coffee blend, a house show, and a lifetime guestlist spot. If Ungerleider and Bryson exceed their financial goal, they hope to press vinyl copies of the album.
