After an extended hiatus from music, Toronto's own Odd Marshall snapped back into songwriting as the result of a car accident to deliver last year's Sand & Glue, which collected "stories of near-misses, chance encounters, and timeless memories."
He explained in a release, "I stopped writing songs for 10 years until I flipped my truck in a snowstorm. I was fine. But I crawled out the passenger window and, while sitting in the back of a cop car, a song came on the radio and it reminded me... I used to do that. For how much I enjoy playing music now, I can't understand how I gave it up for so long."
Sand & Glue was produced by Don Kerr, who also played drums, with Mike O'Brien on guitars, Jason Haberman on bass. Carlin Nicholson lent backing vocals and keys, while Mike Boguski added organs.
Now the musician is turning his focus to his sophomore effort, for which he's teamed up with Blind Melon guitarists Christopher Thorn and Rogers Stevens, as well as Rami Jaffee of Foo Fighters, who plays keys on the album. The as-yet untitled record is due in fall 2025.
