Occupy Movement Gets 100-Song Benefit Album with Patti Smith, Yo La Tengo, Mogwai, Yoko Ono

BY Alex HudsonPublished Apr 19, 2012

Occupy isn't generating headlines like it once did, but that doesn't mean that the protest movement doesn't still have its share of supporters. On May 15, Music for Occupy will release a massive 100-song compilation Occupy This Album.

Among the big-name contributors to the four-disc set are Patti Smith, Yoko Ono, Deborah Harry, Yo La Tengo, Ladytron, Thee Oh Sees, Mogwai, Michael Moore (yup, the filmmaker), Willie Nelson, Tom Morello, UNKLE, David Crosby & Graham Nash, Lucinda Williams, and many more.

Only 78 songs are contained on the CDs, meaning that the remaining 22 more are digital-only. See the hefty tracklist below, and note that most of the tracks are previously unreleased.

A five-song sampler is embedded at the bottom of the page, and it includes the Mogwai tune "Earth Division."

You can pre-order your copy of the album right here. All proceeds go towards Occupy Wall Street. The movement is looking to increase its this momentum this spring with demonstrations on International Workers' Day, which takes place on May 1.
