Edmonton's Now Hear This Festival has announced details about its upcoming 2025 edition. Running from June 6 to 14, this year's programming will range from opera, avant-jazz, contemporary dance, free improvisation, chamber music, multi-media performances and more across two weekends.
The first weekend of festivities (June 6 to 8) will include an improvised show curated by Ron de Jong, the multimedia two-part opera Out Loud!, and a retrospective concert of contemporary music featuring George Andix, bok brass, WindRose Trio and the Strathcona String Quartet.
The following weekend (June 13 to 14) will welcome Here-Hearing, which features performances from Amiskwaciy-wâskahikan (Edmonton) artists, curated primarily from an open call. Artists on the bill include Marek Orszulik, Alicia Proudfoot, Red River Resonance (Louis Bouchier and Jen Dunford), Creamy Rainbow (Andrew Thorne and Anna Wildish), Soft lons (Jenna Turner and Parker Thiessen) and Codyma (Cole Dorchester, Makenna Graham and Dylan Lindsay).
