East Coast headbangers looking for a weekend-long fix of the heavy stuff will get the goods this coming September via the inaugural Maritime Metal & Hard Rock Festival. The two-day event takes place September 13 and 14 at Aylesford, NS's Fox Mountain Camping Park, and organizers have already begun to detail the lineup.

A press release for the event notes that the fest's goal is "to put the 'loud' genre of music on the 'map' in the Maritimes." The roster announced so far is locally minded, with Nova Scotian acts confirmed so far including Broken Ohms, Black Moor, the Fed Pennies, Chaos Theory, Hellacaust, Big Game Hunt, First to Fall, Black City Avenger, Armada Drive, and Vicious.

New Brunswick's Hero's Last Rite and Iron Giant are also scheduled to appear, as well as Prince Edward Island's Death Valley Driver. Whitehorse's Sanktuary will also make their way out to the Maritime Metal & Hard Rock Festival.

An early bird special currently has a two-day pass at $38, plus fees and tax. You can get the rest of the info here.

If you want to make this a family affair, take note that kids under 12 get in for free. Bang on, little dudes.
