Norma Jean Sign to Same Label as Kidz Bop, Prep New Album for 2010

Following a long-running stint on Christian hard music imprint Solid State Records, Atlanta post-metalcore torchbearers Norma Jean have announced their signing with New York label Razor & Tie.

In a statement from front-man Cory Brandon, it doesn't appear that the split was too amicable. "If we didn't sign to Razor & Tie, I think we would have gone on a killing spree, with no regard for life or limb," he said. "I think for the first time in our career, upon presenting our ideas, we get to hear the word 'yes' more often. It's like discovering an unknown tribe on a distant island. Except we're the tribe and we don't know your language. Plus we have spears and swords and we're cannibals. Either way, we're insanely animated about R&T showing up and want to try on their Nike Air Jordans."

While they appear happy with their decision, Razor & Tie seems like a pretty odd choice for the band. The label boasts a truly bizarre roster, including Michael McDonald, Simply Red, the Dan Band and even those atrocious Kidz Bop compilations.

Either way, Norma Jean are planning to record a new album in January of 2010, with plans to release it in the summer.
