Norah Jones and Jeff Tweedy Play Five Songs Together on Her Podcast

The songs include some Wilco classics

Norah Jones has a new podcast where she'll be inviting some of her favourite musicians to chat and play some songs together. First up on Norah Jones Is Playing Along's roster is her previous collaborator and Wilco bandleader Jeff Tweedy, who performed five songs with her for the occasion.

The pair performed Wilco tracks "Jesus, Etc.," "Sunken Treasure," "Muzzle of Bees" and "Save It for Me," as well as Jones's track "I'm Alive," which was co-written by Tweedy. Their rendition of "Muzzle of Bees" will be released for streaming on Friday.

Through her podcast, Jones is hoping to push her musical boundaries and perform with artists she doesn't normally "cross paths with," as well as to reconnect with "past collaborators in a new way," she said in a statement.

She continued:

I remember listening to Marian McPartland's Piano Jazz program from NPR on old bootleg tapes in high school and it was my honour to be one of her guests when I first started making records. This show has a similar spirit, with all the casualness of just getting together to play songs and chat with no parameters or formal expectations. The podcast format is perfect for this kind of connection between musicians and the audience. Collaboration is one of the best ways to stay inspired, it widens the mind to infinite possibilities.

Tweedy and Jones last collaborated on her album Pick Me Up Off the Floor in 2020. Future guests of Norah Jones Is Playing Along will include Mavis Staples, Tarriona "Tank" Ball, and Marc Rebillet.
