Nina Nastasia Once Again Pairs Up with Steve Albini for New Album

Published Mar 17, 2010

At first glance, Nina Nastasia and Steve Albini aren't the most likely of collaborators. After all, Nastasia favours acoustic folk, while Albini is best known for producing Nirvana and the Pixies, and playing in noise rock trio Shellac. Nevertheless, the pair have previously recorded four albums together, including Nastasia's 2007 collaboration with Australian drummer Jim White, You Follow Me. Nastasia has now recently completed her sixth album, Outlaster, once again with Albini.

As For Folk's Sake [via TwentyFourBit] reports, the album also features input from Aimee Mann-collaborator Paul Bryan, who wrote "mini-orchestra" arrangements for the songs.

We'll hear the results of this latest collaboration when the album drops on June 7 in the UK. Prior to that, lead single "Cry, Cry Baby" will be released on May 10. No word, however, if FatCat will once again be releasing Nastasia's record.
