Nicki Minaj's 'Queen' Is Getting Pushed Back Again

It's getting delayed for a second time and maybe because of a Tracy Chapman sample

Nicki Minaj has been teasing the arrival of her new album Queen for months now, but it looks as if next week's already-pushed-back release date could be pushed back even further.

The rapper took to Twitter earlier today to tell fans — and Tracy Chapman — that she's still awaiting clearance on a sample.

UPDATE (8/1, 1 p.m. EDT): Queen has now officially been delayed once again, Billboard reports. The album will now arrive on August 17 instead of August 10. However, it's unclear if this is directly due to the Chapman sample.

In a since-deleted tweet, Minaj explained:

So there's a record on #Queen that features 1 of the greatest rappers of all time. Had no clue it sampled the legend #TracyChapman — do I keep my date & lose the record? Or do I lose the record & keep my date? do we push #Queen back 1week? Ugh! I'm torn, y'all help.

She went on to reach out to Chapman herself (despite the fact that Chapman doesn't use Twitter), asking her to "please hit me."

After deleting the tweets, Minaj opened it up to her fans, sending out a poll asking whether she should keep the Queen release date the same and remove the song in question or if she should keep the song and push the release date one week.

It's a pretty tight race amongst nearly 100,000 fans at the moment, so stay tuned to see how the vote turns out.

As it stands, Queen is scheduled to be released on August 10.
