American Idol is about to receive an injection of fresh celebrity talent, as singer-rapper Nicki Minaj has reportedly signed on as a judge for the televised talent contest's next season.

While neither Minaj or broadcaster FOX has officially announced the news, Us Weekly reports that Minaj is indeed on board.

"I'm not sure the deal is completely done yet, but yes, she is definitely doing it," said one inside source. "A few more slight things to sign off on but it is happening."

Another source added, Minaj is "100 percent confirmed to judge American Idol."

Assuming that the reports are accurate and the deal comes to pass, Minaj's presence at the judge's table ought to add some extra vitality to Season 12 of Idol. Outgoing judges Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler (of Aerosmith) and Randy Jackson are undoubtedly big in the fame department, but Minaj is unique to the show in that she is a buzzed-about star whose singing career is still on the rise.

Mega-successful belter Mariah Carey will also be a judge next season, which is slated to begin in January 2013
