The case of the West Memphis Three has attracted plenty of attention from the music community, as the controversial murder trial previously spawned a tribute album (featuring Tom Waits, Steve Earl, L7 and more), and Metallica notably lent their music to the 1996 documentary Paradise Lost: The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills. Now, a new documentary has been made, and Bad Seeds/Grinderman collaborators Nick Cave and Warren Ellis have created the soundtrack.
The new flick is called West of Memphis and it premiered at Sundance Film Festival earlier this month. Directed by Amy Berg and co-produced/co-written by Peter Jackson (yes, he of The Lord of the Rings and that dreadful Lovely Bones), it asserts the West Memphis Three's innocence. As you may know, the convicts were eventually released last year.
We don't know when or if this film will receive a wider release, nor what Bad Seeds/Grinderman collaborators Cave and Ellis have cooked up for their score. Below, though, you can watch a trailer, which features Eddie Vedder and Henry Rollins.
Cave and Ellis have previously scored The Road and The Proposition in addition to several other films.
