Next LCD Soundsystem LP Could Be Their Last, Says James Murphy

James Murphy, the main man behind LCD Soundsystem, has announced that his next LP might be his last under that name.

In the interest of moving forward, Murphy also stated in an interview with NME that the tour following his 2010 release "should probably be the last."

However, it's hard to know how seriously to take Murphy's hints at retirement, when he also says something like, "When I'm working on [a record] it makes sense to think of it as the last you'll ever do because then you make it good." On top of that, this isn't the first time we've heard rumblings about the end of LCD Soundsystem. Similar things were said back in November 2008, all Jay-Z style, so we aren't holding our breath.

Work on the as-yet-untitled record is reportedly going well, and Murphy has stated that it not only features a "wider palette of sound," but even that it's "definitely better than the other two." Since the record has been pushed back from March to an April 2010 release date, we'll have to wait until then to find out.
