Vacant-eyed party bros the Chainsmokers just want to let people bliss out to their lite-pop EDM tunes, but the suits won't let it happen. Well, maybe more because of the global pandemic that has been in the news all year. Either way, the duo's controversial packed show in the Hamptons was investigated by the New York health department, and a big fine has now been handed out.
Governor Andrew Cuomo announced on Twitter that the promoter behind the show, In the Know Experiences, will be forced to pay a $20,000 USD fine for violating the Public Health Law by "holding a non-essential gathering and failure to enforce mask wearing."
Further, the town of Southampton will no longer be able to approve permits for group gatherings without approval from the State of New York.
A press release added, "In addition, the event was not held in accordance with other safety measures outlined in the permit application and promotional materials, and created conditions that increased the risk of spreading COVID-19 in New York."
