Nettwerk Music Group may have suffered a setback with the shaky return of Lilith Fair, but the label and management company is still one of the biggest names in Canadian indie music. This year is Nettwerk's 25th anniversary, and the Vancouver-based imprint will be celebrating the occasion with a new book and compilation.
The book was written by author Denise Ryan and will be out on October 7. It's called Nettwerk: 25 Years of Music We Love, and it takes readers behind the scenes with never-before-seen photos and exclusive input from the company's founders, as well as some of its major artists. There's no word on which musicians were interviewed for the book, but given that the label has released albums by everyone from Sarah McLachlan to Skinny Puppy, Great Lake Swimmers and Ron Sexsmith, it ought to be interesting. Nettwerk also manages K-os, Dido, Jamiroquai and Chantal Kreviazuk, among others.
Two days prior to the book release, on October 5, the label will release a compilation album bringing together some of the key tracks from the label's history. Entitled Nettwerk: 25 Years of Music, it will come out in two versions: one with 25 songs, another with a whopping 60 tracks.
