Neko Case Raffling Off Middle Cyclone Muscle Car

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jan 13, 2011

Not only does Neko Case's 2009 LP Middle Cyclone have some gorgeous folk noir songs, it also has an exceptionally bad-ass album cover. Really, what could be cooler than Neko crouched on the hood of a muscle car wielding a sword? Now, you have a chance to buy the car, as the beloved songstress is raffling it off for charity.

The car in question is a 1967 Mercury Cougar. Fittingly, the raffle is being called "Neko Case's Mercury Cougar-Rama Muscle Car-Splosion." Proceeds from the sale will go to 826 National, a nonprofit organization co-founded by author Dave Eggars that aims to help youth develop writing skills.

You can check out some photos over at the raffle website, and click on the embedded video below to see a goofy video in which Case and some of her young neighbours show off the car.

If you want to read up on the car, you can do so here. According to the writeup, there is "enough room in the back of the car to move a small apartment, house your lending library, or to fit your band's gear (or your kid's band's gear!)." Neko named the car Angie Dickinson, presumably after the American actress who appeared in the original Oceans 11.

Raffle tickets are $45 each. You can also purchase combo packs of tickets, including a ten for $250. Get them here.

Thanks to Pitchfork for the heads-up.
