Neko Case

'The Worse Things Get, the Harder I Fight, the Harder I Fight, the More I Love You' (album stream)

It's been more than four years since Neko Case released Middle Cyclone, and now the alt-country singer's new solo album is finally here. The Worse Things Get, the Harder I Fight, the Harder I Fight, the More I Love You is out on September 3 through Anti-, and it's available to stream until then at Exclaim.ca.

The album was again largely recorded with Darryl Neudorf (Sarah McLachlan, the Sadies) at Wavelab Studio in Tuscon, AZ. This means that it bears strong traces of the rich nocturnal atmosphere of her past work, but it also includes everything from the spikily loud "Man" to the a cappella lament "Nearly Midnight, Honolulu."

Among the guests who appear here are M. Ward, Howe Gelb, and Mudhoney's Steve Turner, plus members of the New Pornographers, My Morning Jacket, Calexico, Los Lobos and Visqueen.

Stream it below, and see Case's tour schedule here. You can also pre-order the album here.
