Taking a moment's pause from his popular quarantine series "Fireside Sessions," Neil Young has spoken up about the ongoing political and civil turmoil in the United States amid protests against police brutality and racism, saying "we have to deal with our white insecurities." At the same time, Young is also throwing support behind presidential hopeful Joe Biden.
As to be expected, the artist has taken aim at President Donald Trump for his highly criticized reaction to America-wide protests, calling him a "poor leader who is building walls around our house," and condemning the "smoke and fire of autocracy" on the Neil Young Archives.
"I believe he will be powerless soon and I wish him the best in his next life," Young wrote. "That sorry man will not destroy the American dream."
In his update, the artist also predicted that Joe Biden will win the election this fall — and expressed his hope that Biden will choose Stacey Abrams to serve as his vice-president.

Have hope. I feel a change. Although it could get a lot worse, the pandemic that is, I think we will all learn together. Some of us will get sick, especially those of us who protested, their families, those of us who care and feel. We know black lives matter. My heart goes out to all the black families affected, so that's all the black families through American history. I feel like we are turning a corner. All together, all colors on the street. We know our mission is the right one for America and mankind.
As an old white guy, I don't feel threatened by my black brother. I welcome him and his sisters. We have to deal with our white insecurities. I don't feel any of those insecurities myself, (I have my own in other places). I will stand with my black brother. I want a better world for us all together. A safe world with respect for our wonderful differences. And there are differences.
Whether you think Barack Obama's white brother can handle this situation or not, he will likely be our new leader, bringing compassion and empathy back to the Whitehouse. May the Great Spirit be with you Joe Biden. I hope his new president will be Stacy Abrams, but I will take whoever he chooses. Stacy is my favorite from a good group of candidates. May the Great Spirit be with Joe Biden on his choices.
Throughout the long American electoral campaign period, Young was a staunch advocate for presidential hopeful, Bernie Sanders. However, Sanders dropped out of the race back in April following underwhelming support at the national primaries.
In addition to Young's ongoing "Fireside Sessions," he has been updating frequently about ongoing political issues in the States, where he now holds citizenship. Just last week, Young called for police reform in the U.S., while sharing a 2019 version of his anti-racism anthem "Southern Man."
