Neil Young Cancels TIFF Appearance

If you were looking forward to catching a glimpse of Neil Young at this year's Toronto International Film Festival, bad news: the rock legend has cancelled his public appearance.

As previously reported, Young was to make a trip to TIFF for a public screening of the new Jonathan Demme concert film Neil Young Trunk Show at Toronto's Yonge-Dundas Square on September 14. He was also rumoured to be holding a free outdoor concert.

However, CBC News reports that Young will no longer make the trip to Toronto. TIFF gave no reason as to why Young cancelled the appearance, but a festival spokesperson said they were hoping to soon announce a "spectacular" performer to take his place.

While this is obviously band news for Neil Young fans, there are still a lot of other free TIFF events happening at Yonge-Dundas Square, including a performance by Deerhoof and an appearance by Joan Baez. For a complete list of events, click here.
