With all the excitement surrounding Woodstock's 40th anniversary, it's nice to hear that rock'n'roll legend Neil Young can cut through the hype with some bitter words.
In a recent Woodstock piece in the Globe and Mail, Young is quoted from an interview with biographer Jimmy McDonough. Young, responding to David Crosby's statement that Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young played "stoned and funny and fine," recalls it a little differently.
"Woodstock was a bullshit gig, a piece of shit," Young said. "We played fucking awful. No one was into the music."
Young's vitriol just builds our excitement for what he'll spew during his upcoming Grammy acceptance speech.
