Neck

Should My Fist Eye

BY Stuart GreenPublished Apr 1, 2000

Five-year-old Long Island, NY, crew Neck are among an elite group of prog-metal purveyors that includes Canderia and Cave In. Like Thought Industry (circa Music for Insects) these bands take traditional hardcore, speed metal and classical influences, deconstruct them and reassemble the parts into complex, demanding and hard-as-fuck music that's hard to ignore. Neck's sophomore release contains nine tracks that seamlessly bounce back and forth between underground NYC hardcore, cryptic death metal, grindcore and syncopated rhythmic jamming. Mix in Mike Daffereners tortured lyrical explorations and you have a record that's tough to ignore for so many reasons.
