The National's Bryce Dessner, Alva Noto Join Ryuichi Sakamoto on 'The Revenant' Score

Last month, we learned that Japanese experimental composer Ryuichi Sakamoto was in charge of the score for Alejandro González Iñárritu's Oscar season flick The Revenant. Now, he's revealed that some friends will help him out with the film's music.

In a tweet, Sakamoto confirmed that his Revenant score will include appearances from Bryce Dessner of the National alongside Carsten Nicolai, the electronic composer best known for his work as Alva Noto.

Though it's unclear when we'll get to hear the score in full, we won't be surprised when a label steps up to the plate and treats it to a proper release.

The Revenant, meanwhile, is set to hit theatres on Christmas Day. Watch the film's trailer below.

UPDATE (10/27, 6 p.m.): As a press release now confirms, Sakamoto's soundtrack will arrive digitally on Milan Records on December 25. A CD version will then follow in January and a vinyl edition in March.
