The National

"Thanksgiving Song" / "I'll See You In My Dreams"

With each passing day postponing some sort of announcement regarding a possible follow-up to the National's 2010 set High Violet, it becomes a bit clearer that the dudes have been spending some quality time on the couch to watch their favourite programs. Earlier this year, the band delivered the Game of Thrones-geared ballad "The Rains of Castamere", and now they've offered up another pair of TV tunes.

First up is the band's take on a Thanksgiving song sung by Linda from Bob's Burgers. While the animated character added some 'zaz and jazz hands to her lines about thanking everyone for everything, Matt Berninger comically broods his way through the quick acoustic tune, hopefully whilst wearing a Beefsquatch suit. You can watch both versions below courtesy of Vulture.

The National also offered up an interpretation of the Isham Jones and the Ray Miller Orchestra's 1924 song "I'll See You in My Dreams" for prohibition-period program Boardwalk Empire. It's a traditional take, with ragtime rhythms and tuba oomping colluding with classical string sweeps and Berninger's now-hopeful croon capturing the vibe of the times.
