Current tourmates Neko Case and My Morning Jacket united in Pittsburgh last night (August 10) for a faithful cover version of Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton's "Islands in the Stream."
There's just the right amount of kitsch here, with the burly and somewhat imposing figure of MMJ vocalist Jim James singing a song your mother probably loves exponentially more than you do. But he makes the best of it, as does Case, who seems pretty comfortable covering another generation's country/pop legend.
