My Brightest Diamond Returns with New Album, Premieres "Pressure"

In addition to contributing vocals to artists like Sufjan Stevens, Colin Stetson and the Decemberists, songwriter Shara Worden has released a string of albums with her project My Brightest Diamond. The latest of these is This Is My Hand, which is due out on September 16 through Asthmatic Kitty in the U.S. and Paper Bag in Canada.

Earlier this year, Worden told Revolt [via Consequence of Sound] that the album had been recorded in various locations, with sessions taking place in Berlin, New York, Detroit and Los Angeles. It features contributions from returning collaborator (and Asthmatic Kitty label-mate) DM Smith.

For a taste of what Worden has in store, stream the track "Pressure" over at NPR. Beginning with drum rolls, it shifts into a weirdo marching band number with electro-acoustic rhythms and a dramatic mix of synthesizers and orchestral instrumentation.

This is the follow-up to 2011's All Things Will Unwind.
