My Bloody Valentine Play First Gig in 16 Years

My Bloody Valentine made their long-awaited return to the stage this past weekend, marking the first gig they've played in 16 years. The gig on Friday (June 13) at London's ICA was the first of two small performances designed to warm up for their upcoming tour which begins at London's Roundhouse on June 20.

According to the NME, leader Kevin Shields addressed the crowd saying, "Welcome to our rehearsal. The real gigs start next week at the Roundhouse," and the four-piece went on to play a set made up entirely of material from their Creation period, specifically their two albums - Isn't Anything and Loveless, as well as their various EPs.

My Bloody Valentine will embark on a North American tour in September that includes one Canadian date in Toronto at the Ricoh Coliseum on September 25.
