Vancouver's independent music scene is all-a-bustle in the summer months, what with the Music Waste festival and its season-capping last blast, the Victory Square Block Party. Organizers are now stepping up their game in the snowier season and have just announced the logical next step: "Winter Waste."

Music Waste just announced its chilly offshoot over Facebook, and the gig will take place January 19 at Vancouver's Astoria Pub. The show will feature seven acts spread across two stages in the venue, with key players including poetic post-punks Peace and party-poppers Apollo Ghosts.

Also set to perform are Lié, Cascadia, Nervous Talk, the Passenger and Half-Chinese. The event will also feature the Music Waste DJs spinning Vancouver specials all night long.

The show will also act as the official kickoff for submissions to Music Waste 2013. Vancouver bands take note, they won't be sessioning your demo tape or SoundCloud reel until then. "Seriously, stop sending us submissions already. That early bird catches the worm shit doesn't apply here," organizers joked. Well, not really.
