Umlaut-loving hair metal holdovers Mötley Crüe have a big tour planned for 2014, but this isn't your average outing — it will be their last one ever.
Unlike other goobye tours, where the threat of reunion is close behind, the band have signed a what a press release calls a "formal Cessation of Touring Agreement." This means that they are contractually banned from touring in the future (although we're not exactly sure how this would be enforced if all of the members agreed to do it).
See the massive schedule for "The Farewell Tour" below. It includes heaps of U.S. shows plus Canadian gigs in Toronto, Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver. Alice Cooper will open all of the shows.
Tickets will go on sale for Mötley Crüe fan club members on Wednesday (January 29). VIP packages will follow on Thursday (January 30), before most of the tickets go on sale to the public on Friday (January 31).
There will also be a couple of new releases to cap off the band's life as a touring band. Their 2002 memoir The Dirt will be turned into a movie. Directed by Jeff Tremaine (Jackass), it will arrive in theatres in 2015.
Before then, the group will be toasted with a Country Music Tribute to Mötley Crüe. Released through Big Machine Records in collaboration with Mötley Records and Eleven Seven Music, it will feature Florida Georgia Line and Rascal Flatts, among others. It's due out this summer.
